Verses 37-45 GROUP_1428 55.37-45
37
فَإِذَا انشَقَّتِ السَّمَاء فَكَانَتْ وَرْدَةً كَالدِّهَانِ
When the sky is rent asunder, and becomes red like red leather,
38
فَبِأَيِّ آلَاء رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
which of your Lord’s wonders would you deny?
39
فَيَوْمَئِذٍ لَّا يُسْأَلُ عَن ذَنبِهِ إِنسٌ وَلَا جَانٌّ
For, on that Day, neither man nor jinn will be questioned about his sins.
40
فَبِأَيِّ آلَاء رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Which of your Lord’s wonders would you deny?
41
يُعْرَفُ الْمُجْرِمُونَ بِسِيمَاهُمْ فَيُؤْخَذُ بِالنَّوَاصِي وَالْأَقْدَامِ
The guilty shall be recognized by their marks so they shall be seized by their forelocks and their feet.
42
فَبِأَيِّ آلَاء رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Which of your Lord’s wonders would you deny?
43
هَذِهِ جَهَنَّمُ الَّتِي يُكَذِّبُ بِهَا الْمُجْرِمُونَ
This is the Hell which the guilty called a lie.
44
يَطُوفُونَ بَيْنَهَا وَبَيْنَ حَمِيمٍ آنٍ
They will go round between its flames and boiling water.
45
فَبِأَيِّ آلَاء رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Which of your Lord’s wonders would you deny?

Commentary
(a) Denial and arrogance are always caused by an absence of the fear of God. When the terrible moment of Doomsday arrives, the guilty will shed their arrogance. The Truth which they were not ready to accept, in spite of the strong arguments in its favour in the present world, will be accepted by them on Doomsday without dispute. But, acceptance at that time will be of no avail. Acceptance of God’s powers is valid only at the unseen stage and not after their open manifestation.
